Nine students from Komarek School in North Riverside qualified for the History Bee Nationals and six qualified for the U.S. Geography Bee Nationals at the Chicago-South regional event in April held at Komarek.

Both national finals will be held June 7-10 at the Hyatt O'Hare in Rosemont. About 120 students in grades four to eight participated in the regional event in North Riverside last month.

Among those Komarek students qualifying for the History Bee were fourth-graders Bestaida Arias, Brynn Gizewski, Erica Hill and Isabelle Moron and fifth-grader Jacob Jicha.

Qualifying for both the History Bee and Geography Bee nationals were fifth-graders John Bielobradek, Tommy Bogdan, Xavier Mrozik-Dejesus and eighth-grader Iggy Bielobradek.

Eighth-graders qualifying solely for the Geography Bee were Sam Egan and Jake Tyler.

The events are run by International Academic Competitions.
